    Saucer Tail Shad - 4"

I love 3 inch soft jerkbaits because they can be fished topwater, jerked anywhere in the water column, and thrown on top of grass/moss matts when rigged weedless on an EWG worm hook. This bait does all that, plus the long flat tail adds motion when you're working it...and waves around slowly when dead-sticking it on the bottom. And it makes 14 baits at a time! (!!). Yes, the tail is skinny, so you need hot plastisol to get a good fill...and if you're working in a frosty shed or basement, warm up your mold as well. This is my favorite mold.

I wish I had found this mold before I bought any others. 14 cavities for this price is an insanely good value. My favorite bait is a 3 inch Bass Assassin, and the body of this lure is fairly close in dimensions. The tail is longer and flat. I ordered a cu$tom hook slot in the belly for throwing this on an EWG hook with no sinker. Because of the long skinny tail, you need to match the temps of the two colors when you're shooting laminates. Happy accident: When I messed up and the tail didn't fill all the way in, the resulting baits matched the BA's length and profile, just with a flat tail instead of round.....
